Font Replacement Ends 2010
November 20, 2009

Back in 2007, we released our new shopping cart / account system that keeps track of all fonts you order so you can download them again any time you wish.

The beauty of this system (and something I have not promoted as well as I should) is that whenever a font is updated-- it is updated in everyone's account. Meaning, the next time you login and download it, you are getting the new improved version.

However, we are still getting emails from people who ordered before 2007 requesting font replacement. The problem is, some fonts have not been updated to the OpenType format and we no longer offer them for sale. So we can't replace those. And... we don't email fonts anymore. Everyone must have an account so we can place the lost fonts into the account. But some people don't like the idea of having to buy a new font in order to create that account.

The reason we ask people who need fonts replaced to purchase a new font is two pronged: (1) It is necessary to have an account, so purchasing a new font accomplishes this. (2) Replacing each font and manually placing them into your account requires 15-20 minutes, so this compensates us a little for our time.

For a while we even charged a fee to replace fonts. I am doing away with that fee now. But I don't think it's unfair to ask people to purchase a new font to replace lost fonts. Besides, you are getting much improved versions of the fonts-- better than originally purchased (some even come with additional versions).

But this font replacement service will end January 1st, 2010. This means that if you lost a font that was purchased prior to 2007, you will not be able to get a replacement for it after 2009.

Now I know this is going to make some people very unhappy with me, but it has to be done. We cannot continue replacing fonts for people who neglected to back them up and have not purchased from us in the past 3 years. It is far too time consuming tracking down orders from 5, even 7 years ago and then manually placing the lost fonts into their account.

So if you need any fonts replaced that you ordered before 2007, now is the time to make your request. If you do not have an account yet, we will ask you to create a new account by making a new purchase of course. Doing so will keep all of your fonts nice and safe where you can download them again any time.

So to sum it up...

• Font replacement service ends 2010
• We cannot replace fonts no longer offered on the website
• We cannot replace fonts that were once free but have been updated to commercial license.
• Please purchase a new font so we can replace the lost fonts

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
