Sharing Letterhead Fonts is piracy
Letterhead Fonts are created from scratch by artists just like you. These artists spend many months researching, drawing, and finally kerning these fonts for you. We trust that you respect the time and skill that goes into creating them and do not share your fonts with others.
Letterhead Fonts does not hesitate to pursue legal action against those who violate our rights. All Letterhead Fonts are embedded with the original purchaser's account ID using our FontGuard system. This allows the fonts to be traced back to the original purchaser. The fonts you purchase are licensed to you only. Should these fonts become shared publicly, you will be held responsible for damages resulting from lost sales of those fonts.
Copyright infringement is investigated by the FBI and can result in 5 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000. Please protect yourself and others by not sharing.
Why pay for fonts?
Give the artist incentive to create new fonts
When you purchase your fonts legitimately from Letterhead Fonts, you are letting the artists who create the fonts know that you appreciate their work. The more people who purchase their fonts, the more incentive an artist has to create new fonts for you. Furthermore, they are more willing to spend time creating original fonts that may be difficult and time consuming (such as scripts). It is quite easy to make the connection that piracy hinders creativity. Sharing fonts might seem like a helpful thing to do, but it is actually shortsighted.
Spyware and viruses
Many of the warez and file-sharing sites that offer file downloads are loaded with spyware and viruses. Simply trolling around these sites for illegal fonts is asking for big trouble. Most of them are dishonest about what they are offering. That is, many times the files are automatically named to match whatever you typed in the search engine. Spending an entire day exterminating spyware from your system doesn't sound like much of a bargain.
It's the right thing to do
It may sound biased coming from us, but it really does make you feel better to purchase your tools legitimately. You will have the confidence that comes from knowing that you are doing the right thing. After all, no one wants to feel like a thief. It has been said: "The softest pillow is a clear conscience."
How you can help
Piracy has a direct impact on the number of fonts we release and their prices. If you appreciate the work we are doing, we need your help.
Don't share your fonts
Please protect yourself and encourage us to create new fonts by not sharing the fonts licensed to you. Please convert your fonts to curves or outlines before sending your completed project to printers or other third parties (many printers actually prefer this).
Report piracy
If you have witnessed or suspect a case of piracy, please report it to us immediately. The information you provide will help us to continue creating new fonts. We reward those who help us. Report piracy here.
Information leading to prosecution
There are individuals that we are building copyright infringement cases against. We pay rewards for information leading to their identity and prosecution. See our Reward List here.
