Thanks to fellow artist Jerry VanHorn for reminding us how easy it is to create 3D effects using the two-part Convecta font. Although Jerry prefers CorelDraw 12, his simple technique can be acomplished using any graphics program.

1. Type your text
Type text in convecta base font and kern your text. Duplicate and change the duplicated lettering to Convecta Convex. (Note: It is important to kern your text before duplicating, otherwise it will not align properly later)

2. Convecta Convex
Add a vertical gradient fade of 10% black to 100% black (light on bottom, dark on top) to the Convecta CONVEX lettering.
3. Convecta Base
Add a vertical gradient fade of 100% black to 10% black (dark on bottom, light on top) to the Convecta BASE lettering.
4. Add an Outline
Add an outline to the Convecta BASE lettering.

5. Add the Convex
Now all that's left is to position the CONVEX lettering on top of the BASE lettering.

6. Try different colors
Eye-catching effects can be acheived by playing with the colors and outlines.
